The Science of Autism with Dr. John Biddulph

Monday 15 May 2023
19:00 -
21:30

It is estimated that around 1 in 66 people have autism but with long waiting times for diagnosis, the number may well be much more. Autism is a form of neurodivergency, meaning that the brain is ‘wired’ differently than that of a neurotypical person.

This talk will cover everything from the neuroscience behind autism, the typical signs and symptoms, to the advantages and disadvantages of autism. We will also discuss how autistic men and women can present differently, debunk myths and stigma around autism as well as sensory differences and the ‘double empathy problem.’

The world has been designed for neurotypical people and this talk will challenge how we can make it a more welcoming place for neurodivergent people and give you the tools needed to better understand the autistic mind.

Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7.30pm – come down early to grab a good seat!
