Trauma is an underlying and often misunderstood factor in many psychological difficulties. In the media it is frequently dramatised as PTSD-type symptoms arising from Big T traumatic events such as war, sexual assault or a serious accident. However, insidious pressures such as exposure to debt, stress at home/school/work or worrying about a potential confrontation can also be traumatic in nature and cause a bodily response. A traumatic response may manifest in the form of psychological difficulties ranging from anxiety and sleep disturbance to relationship issues and difficulties managing emotions. Trauma therapy draws from both neuroscience and psychology to help people better understand and manage these responses.

This talk will give you a better understanding of what exactly trauma is and how it affects our mind, body and relationships. Psychological theories of trauma and its relevance to triggers, psychological, emotional and behavioural responses, PTSD along with Complex-PTSD, generational trauma and the development of the vulnerable child part will be explored. This talk will help you better understand how to identify trauma and the different ways in which it can be dealt with to help improve quality of life. This talk will draw on the mind-body connection evidence- based to arm you with holistic skills to manage trauma symptoms including nutrition and yoga.

Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7.30pm – come down early to grab a good seat!
